Do I need a prescription for GUNNARS if I have 20/20 vision?
GUNNARS off-the-shelf eye glasses are intended for 20/20 or corrected vision and do not require a prescription, although we highly recommend regular visits to your eye care professional to ensure the health of your vision. If you require a custom prescription for eye glasses, the GUNNAR Rx program is available. For more information, visit GUNNAR Rx.
What is the difference between GUNNAR Standard Rx and GUNNAR Premium Rx prescription glasses?

What do I need to order my prescription glasses online?
You need a copy of your prescription to order Rx glasses online. If you do not have a copy of your prescription available, please visit your eye care professional; they will provide your prescription and pupillary distance [PD]. Please include your Pupil Distance or PD. We require prescription details as part of our online Rx glasses purchasing process.
How long will it take to receive my prescription eyeglasses?
Since our prescription glasses are made in the US, prescription orders take 4-6 weeks to process from the time of initial order.
What does it mean if my prescription is ‘out of range’?
If you receive an ‘out of range’ message, we are unable to process your request because the prescription falls outside the limitations of our lens shape. Ranges vary by style. If your prescription is not within range for our custom program, we may not be able to accommodate your order at this time.
What is different between GUNNAR lens technology and other glasses?
GUNNAR is the only patented computer eyewear recommended by doctors to protect and enhance your vision during digital use. Our advanced optical technology addresses all issues associated with digital eye strain, including; dry, irritated eyes, blurred vision, headaches, glare, negative effects of artificial blue light and eye strain and fatigue. The result – improved clarity, focus and performance. Learn more about how GUNNARS work.
What is the advantage of Amber lenses?
Our custom tints tune artificial blue light to enhance the physiology of the naked eye, increasing contrast perception and shifting the color spectrum for visual efficiency. Light from energy efficient computers and overhead fluorescent lighting consists of narrow bands of high energy light instead of equally balanced, full spectrum the human eye prefers. Changing the color of your screen or brightness does not affect the quality of the digital light. GUNNAR lens tints filter and balance the transmitted spectrum, reducing high energy visible [HEV] light and warming the spectrum. By reducing harsh blue light, sensitive parts of the eye are engaged, increasing contrast. Filtering blue light from a backlit screen reduces visual recovery time and protects the eyes.
Do GUNNAR Computer Glasses have extra focusing power?
GUNNAR lens material has specifically tuned focusing power providing you with sharper, clearer vision. This patented lens technology aids natural focusing and reduces stress and strain on your eyes. Less eye strain reduces digital fatigue and issues associated with prolonged computer use. The GUNNAR non-Rx frames have a standard +0.2 diopter (magnification of +0.2/4 = 0.05+1 = 1.05x) that allows the eyes not to strain and stress when looking at close computer distances for extended periods of time.
What’s the difference between computer eyewear and gaming eyewear?
Our lens technology is optimized for digital use across all of our lens options; Amber, Crystalline, Outdoor). Many of our Gaming Eyewear frame styles are designed for compatibility with a headset.
Are GUNNARS polarized?
Our lenses are not polarized as they can adversely affect viewing digital screens and some colours even disappear in certain orientations. Although they are not polarized, our lenses do block damaging UV, high energy (HEV) visible, blue light and glare.
How will I know a pair will fit me?
You can view glasses styles by frame type, shape, and lens options. Technical specifications and dimensions for our eyewear can be found on each product page. GUNNAR offers a 14 day Money Back Guarantee, so if you are not completely satisfied with the eyewear style you select, please exchange or return for a full refund of the purchase price.
What can I expect from wearing GUNNARS?
I am a designer. Will the amber tint alter color?
Our proprietary Amber lens tint is tuned specifically to mimic natural light by filtering out the harsh blue light spectrum. If you work in true color and require unaltered spectral shift, then we recommend our Crystalline Lens option.
Do the crystalline glasses have a magenta hue?
We use an Anti-Reflective (AR) coating to increase light transmission through the lens allowing for bright and crisper image detail. We tune our AR coating and select a center for peak reflectance over a certain parts of the spectrum. Our Amber tint has peak reflectance at 450nm which corresponds to the increased spike of energy in the blue part of the spectrum from digital screens, reducing strain on the eyes. For our Crystalline Lens, we tune the AR coating to reflect closer to 550nm (green). Hence, you may perceive a slight green on the lens (less than 1% reflectance). The 550nm peak reflectance counters the natural filtering resulting from our lens material. The result is an equalized balance of light allowing for truest color necessary for design applications.
